The Gulf of Venezuela is a gulf of the Caribbean Sea bounded by the Venezuelan states of Zulia and FalcΓ³n and by La Guajira Department, Colombia. The western side is formed by the Guajira Peninsula. A 54Β km (34Β mi) strait connects it with Maracaibo Lake to the south.

It means Little Venice. In spite of the fact that this is almost completely unlike the North London area known as Little Venice, it's not even like Venice either, really. They will have named it when they arrived at the Gulf of Maracaibo. I just thought there's water here. There's water in Venice.
