Nile

About Nile
The Nile is a major north-flowing river in northeast Africa which empties into the Mediterranean Sea. At 7,088 kilometers (4,404 mi) long, it is the longest river in the world, although the volume of water it carries is much smaller than other major rivers such as the Amazon or the Congo. The Nile has played a central role in the environmental, economic, and cultural history of Africa for millennia.

I think in the wet season that lake is 10% of the size of Cambodia. The Nile was really important, of course, for the Egyptians, so much so that the new year began at the flooding. Whenever the flooding was, that was when the new year was.

Did they wait? Because, you know, you don't wake up one night and go, oh my God, there's 20 kilometres of silk where there was a river. They must have waited and just gone to and from the Nile until gradually it was just that bit too far. Then one day, they thought it's gone just a centimetre too far for me now. Let's go 20 kilometres up that direction.
