The A5 goes along the old road that was called Watling Street. That was a really ancient road. It's been around since ancient Rome. Watling Street was used as the dividing line between Dane Law, so when the Danes came over and took over sort of the north of England, and the dividing line between Dane Law and then the Anglo-Saxons on the south.
